Due to a cattle shortage country-wide in 2009, it was with the hopes of bridging the meat gap, that we opened our pork section.
Being a small operation, we would only slaughter 20 to 30 porkers a day, but as demand grew and over time, we secured a license to slaughter 70 head per day.

As 2014 drew to a close, we had expanded our pork abattoir, and with that a license which allowed us to slaughter 150 head per day. We currently have cold-room space to accommodate 70 porkers and blast-freezer space which can take up to 120 porkers at any one time.

We take great care in ensuring our pigs are well looked after from the time they arrive at Koala Park Butchery to the time they are slaughtered. From all the methods used to stun, and slaughter pigs, we choose to use electric currents to stun the pig, then immediately after, it is bled out to finish the process. We believe this is by far the most humane way of slaughtering our porkers, and guarantees our meat quality is of the highest standard by the time it reaches our customers.

OUR PRODUCTS
Our product line has been carefully formulated to fully encompass every aspect of production, growth and performance in livestock. Currently our main focus is on cattle and horse feed, however we will be looking to expand our range further as demand grows for other animal feeds.

We have formulated the perfect recipes for livestock feeds in various forms of feed mixes, ensuring growth, health and performance are our biggest priorities when producing our various feeds. Even though our sole concentration was on Koala Park’s cattle only, we are now looking to branch out and sell our tried and tested feeds to the public, hence our brand new division, Koala Feeds.

We are extremely confident in our abilities and know the daily gains taken on from our feeds is all the proof we need to show our customers that we are on the right track, creating fantastic feeds for livestock country-wide. Our prices are extremely competitive as we have based our pricing on ensuring farmers and live-stock owners alike from every corner of the country, can afford to feed their live-stock at a low cost while making sure they get maximum results through our feeds.

Pen Fattening Meal
A high energy complete pen fattening meal, formulated to meet all nutrients requirements of a cattle in the feedlot.
The feed is highly palatable and intake averages 3.5% of live mass per day with average daily gain of 1.8kg from an animal averaging 350kg live mass.
This scientifically formulated feed is designed to finish penned beef cattle within the normal range of 70-90days depending on the class of animal, and live weight.
This feed can also be used as a maintenance feed in which feed can be restricted from 3kg to 5kg.
Winter
Lick
A high quality winter lick scientifically formulated to maintain cattle on winter veld. In winter the veld quality (protein levels) decrease .
The veld becomes unpalatable and indigestible due to high levels of lignin/fibre, as a result animals tend to lose weight.
Our Winter Lick is highly nutritive, formulated to maintain animals in such veld condition.
For a mixed head, consumption averages 0.8kg per day per animal.
Winter
Weaner
Lick
A competently formulated lick which contains high natural protein, vitamins and minerals.
Because of high natural protein, this lick is most ideal for weaners on winter veld.
Calves have high protein requirement and this lick is designed to meet that need.
A 3 month old calve is expected to consume an average of 0.15kg of our Winter Weaner Lick per day and it has been tried and tested in-house over 19 years that at this rate of consumption calves meet a recommended daily minimum target weight gain of 0.5kg.
Summer
Lick
Our Summer lick is a mineral lick containing phosphorus, calcium, salt and trace minerals scientifically formulated to provide these minerals to cattle, emphasising more on phosphorus supplementation in summer.
Summer veld tend to be phosphorus deficient and this results in reduced growth and productivity in animals as phosphorus is vital in metabolism.
Research has proved that phosphorus supplementation in breeding stock increases calving percentage and weaning weight by 4.5% and 10% respectively.
For a mixed head, consumption averages 0.5kg per day per animal.
Dairy
Meal
A high energy dairy meal formulated to meet the demands of middle to high dairy milk producers.
Feed consumption is 0,5kg per kg of milk produced plus unlimited good quality silage.
Horse
Meal
A scientifically formulated multipurpose feed ideal for horses in ordinary work as well as those competing at shows.
It is non-heating and well formulated to supplement good quality roughage.
The feed is highly palatable and intake is between 1% to 2% of live mass per day depending on level of activity.
Horse
Performance
Meal
High energy and high protein horse meal formulated to meet requirements of a hard working horses.
Feed intake is between 1 and 2% of the horse’s body with unlimited good quality hay.
